Excellent touring/commuting tire

Included in box* was one tire. 27 1/4″, black with tan sidewalls.

*(not affecting my rating, but just thought that I would mention that the box that my tires came in was INSANELY huge. I came home from work and saw two boxes on my porch that were easily big enough to fit an entire bicycle into. I couldn’t possibly imagine what they contained until I opened them and saw one tire packed in each box with a tremendous amount of paper stuffed into it. Each box could have easily held a couple dozen tires each. Crazy)

I have ridden with these for a few weeks now, and I am quite happy. They look perfect on my 40 year old Schwinn 10-speed. I’m using these to commute to work (about 18-ish miles round trip) and have to go over some pretty bad areas of road. Plenty of debris, including sharp metal, screws, broken glass, gravel, you name it. I inspected the tires quite closely, and there are absolutely no signs of damage. I am thoroughly pleased, so far. These are a very good value.

Not a whole lot to say, I guess, they’re tires. Vitally important, but not a whole lot to say about the good ones. I suppose that the best thing I can say is this: I am not worried about shooting downhill on a debris-filled road at 30mph with these tires.

As for the personal “seat of the pants” feelings: No traction issues over loose stuff, no issues when I get on the dirt a little bit. I feel quite secure on these, and they feel great pumped to about 90psi, blasting down a hill. I haven’t had these in the rain, yet, so I can’t comment to that aspect of their handling. I will definitely update this when I get more info to share.

Great product but very unclear delivery time.

Great product. I would order these again, but maybe not from Niagara Cycle. The order processed but it literally took weeks for Niagara Cycle to email that the product had shipped, even though the “in stock” notification said there were plenty to be had. Amazon had to send a separate email reminding me of an option to cancel the order since no update for shipping was given. It was only then that Niagara finally sent me a shipping tracking number.

Best tire in this size

The Pasela TG is probably the best all-around tire in this size. Panaracer tires ride like butter and this one is no exception. The tread lasts forever with excellent flat protection. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get slightly better flat protection with a Schwalbe Marathon or Continental Gatorskin, but those tires are not going to have the same nice ride. And really, the puncture protection on these served me really well, and I ride over a lot of junk in the city.
