Selle Royal Respiro Athletic Men’s Cool Xsenium Saddle is devoted to the demanding cyclist. In hot weather, when leaving a bike in the sun or riding for a long amount of time of time, a saddle may increase in temperature. Rising above the rider’s skin temperature, the saddle brings about an unpleasing sentiment of perspiration and discomfort. Eventually this uncomfortableness may cause pain. Respiro, meaning breathe in Italian, fends off this by keeping the saddle up to 25 percent cooler thanks to the cool microtex cover and the ventilation channel. This saddle is anatomically designed specifically for men for greatest or most complete or best possible ease and blood flow. The athletic design of the saddle focuses RoyalGel padding in the middle of the saddle to provide more relief where the sit bones and weight of the rider is located. Xsenium is a rubberized vinyl cover that allows the RoyalGel underneath to move freely and more dynamically in all three dimensions. Specs: Color – Black; Rail – Magnesium Galvanized; Weight – 360 grams; Length – 277mm; Width – 163mm; ICS – Yes; Mod. Elastomers – No.

great saddle for a good price
By trevor
I’m really happy with this saddle. It is made in Italy and of very high quality. I mostly got it for the wide center channel and because it won’t absorb water if left out in the rain. It is a comfortable saddle and removes pressure from the perineum, which was my main goal (gotta take care of the nether regions).
Before you buy this saddle, make sure you get the correct width. The options are:
Athletic – 163mm (this one)
Moderate – 182mm
Relaxed – 203mm
I’m a bit narrow, 6’2″ with a 33″ waist, and the Athletic fits well and works perfectly for my road bike. I would probably try out a Moderate version on a mountain bike.

bottom is very happy
By david
I have had the saddle three days and put 15 miles on my bike each of the three days. The saddle is well padded but still firm and my sit bones are not sore after being on it for an hour.
I do notice that I am more aware of my riding position on this saddle and I adjust myself into the correct riding position as a result of the saddle design. Sliding forward on this saddle moves you off the padded area and out of position for optimal efficiency. I don’t know why I slip forward on my saddle or if this was even a consideration in the design of the saddle. What I do know is I am aware of it on this saddle and not the original saddle for my bike and this makes me more efficient and focused on my position while riding. Since I ride for fitness this is an unexpected but important benefit for me.
I can’t comment on the air channel or the material that is supposed to keep the seat cooler because the temperatures haven’t been over 70 degrees. These weren’t big selling points for me but I am curious to see if they work as advertised once summer rolls around.
I’m also curious to see how well my bottom feels after doing 40+ mile rides.
This saddle comes in multiple widths depending on your riding style and position when riding. I have the athletic saddle and a small backside (I’m small boned). I thought a lot about which saddle would be right and believe I chose correctly given my size and my riding style. I would suggest taking a moment to think about this if you are going to be happy with your choice. If you choose correctly I don’t see how you can’t be pleased with this saddle.

Best I’ve tried
By Kevin
I’ve had this saddle for almost two years now and absolutely love it. After trying 4 or 5 others on my semi-upright hybrid a couple years back I found this one and it felt just great. When I got a road bike later that year I tried the smaller Respiro for a few days and ended up getting the same one for that bike.
The surface does stay a little cooler in the sun than other saddles. I noticed the airflow through the channel the first time but now I don’t really feel it. Whether or not there is any airflow the channel is perfectly spaced for my sit bones. I’ve done several multi-day tours and two centuries using this saddle. Your legs will get tired long before your rear.
